    George DeBaptiste, born in Fredericksburg in 1816, moved to Detroit in 1846 where he became Detroit's most recognized "Underground Railroad' operator. George DeBaptiste died on 22 February 1875. John DeBaptiste (c. 1740-1804) served in the navy during the Revolutionary War aboard the ship, Dragon, and was named to Fredericksburg's "Wall of Honor" in 2000. John is buried in Falmouth Cemetery.
